Networking has become increasingly important in today’s age. With the advent of social networking and a plethora of media platforms designed for networking, it’s no longer a case of what you know but who you know. Also, networking is an important life skill to develop and provides a lifelong benefit. It can enhance your lifestyle, open career opportunities and help you achieve your personal and professional goals.
Building up a network of diverse people is very helpful for everyone, both professionally and socially. Diversity is the key in networking. Try meeting people from different countries, social classes, professions and interests.
Consider each encounter with another person as an opportunity to build your social and business network.
It is important to create a lasting first impression with each person you meet. You can only make a first impression once, so make it count!
Depending on the impression you create, you may find yourself immersed in greater business opportunities and friendships. But as with any relationship, you should always try to keep in regular touch with the contacts you have developed. However, always keep in mind that networking is a two-way street.
On a final note, I wish to once again reiterate that networking can enrich your life on both a social and business basis and remember, you can never have too many friends.
